"When I sing before an audience of young adults, I feel I have something to contribute and share with them - something about who I am. "

Ah, But Oh, Those Summer Nights!: And what better place to spend them but in the cool, fun atmosphere of a Karaoke Lounge! I began reminiscing about how I spent summer nights aeons ago back in Minnesota. There were the church group picnics, the sailboating on one of Minnesota's 12,000 lakes, the boating on Lake Minnetonka or the St. Croix River, the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer on the beach. But oh, those summer nights!

Young at Heart: Someone asked me how it feels to sing in front of "kids." It's much more fun to perform now in my advanced years than it was as a child. Why? The answer is simple.

Rocky Baldino Retires: A quiet, sedate village lies nestled at the foot of a myriad of mountains just east of I-15 in Escondido. A world-class dinner theater and a sprawling, handsomely manicured golf course, beckon enthusiasts from all over the country. Contented residents and guests alike enjoy an evening of relaxation in the newly-decorated up-scale dining room. Ah, but then, after all this R & R, what goes on after dinner?

Margaret began performing as a child with piano, accordion, voice, tap dancing and drama. As an adult, choir and wedding soloing predominated. She and husband Cliff, also a gifted vocalist, sang together on many occasions. Although both were dedicated to non-musical careers, they worked with the Minneapolis Theater in the Round and entertained for the church, the PTA, and other organizations.

After making "The Big Move" to San Diego in 1985, they discovered karaoke - and became instant aficionados. Along with daughter Wendy, they performed as "The San Diego Carolers" in the late 80's. They found Johnny's Showcases to be an ideal vehicle for their combined talents, presenting them at Skies in Kearny Mesa and Quail's in San Marcos. Since her husband's death in 1999, she has served as Office Manager for Dr.Wang, Acupuncture Group Practice in RB, and contributed regular articles to the "San Diego Scene."

Through her composite of 42 years' experience in advertising (General Mills), fund raising with Foundations in Minneapolis and San Diego, and international corporate experience in San Diego, Margaret has learned that bottom-line profit increases through "people responding to people." She also believes that "Although most market research is conducted from the corporate towers, the true measure of success in the hospitality and entertainment business is, of course, guest satisfaction."

She believes that mutual acceptance and growth occur when we share the diversity of songs in an atmosphere of fun and good times. "And that's
important," she says, "for music has no age barriers. Music is a universal language, binding both gender and generations. Music, like love, makes the world go round!"
