Joe was a friend of mine. He loved Elvis Presley songs and sang them at many different karaoke spots around San Diego. You would remember him singing at the Charcoal House and Skies, at the Four Points Hotel. When he would sing at "Skies" I would back him up with my trumpet when he sang "He Don't Love You" by Jerry Butler.
Joseph Lafayette Todd was the second of nine children, born to Benjamin and Victoria Todd. He is known to those who love him as, "Jody." He was born March 10, 1942 in Stroud, Oklahoma. In 1945, the Todd family in hopes of making a better life for themselves relocated to Dos Palos, California.
Joe sang in the high school choir at Dos Palos High School. Joe loved books and singing and was very gifted with his hands. He had the ability to build and repair things that no one would think possible.
After graduation. Joe moved to Palo Alto where he lived for several years. He worked for the Better Business Bureau in San Jose, before becoming a self employed Marketing Director. He worked for himself in marketing for 25 years. His work took him to San Diego and it was here that he met Jeannie Moss at my karaoke show at the Four Points Hotel, they were married on September 13, 1996.
Joe and Jeannie lived in San Diego for many years then moved back to Dos Palos a year or so ago
Joe was always thinking. He would often be excited to show me one of his current marketing ideas and explain it to me. He was working on a large project which had great potential when he was struck down with a Brain Aneurysm. December 29, 1999 in Fresno, California. He will be missed by many.
