Barbary Coast on the Strip next to the Flamingo. Monday nights 9-2, hosted by Joe the Hat. I had to wait a long time to sing the second song, but I didn't mind much. The crowd was nice and Joe was very appreciative. A nice mixed crowd of all ages, too, from people in their 20's to the geriatric set. Some VERY good singers there too! Joe the Hat is a retired gentleman with an excellent Sinatra-like voice who always wears nice hats. I first saw him years ago at the Four Queens where he was singing with his cronies, but took extra time to talk to me and my husband, the karaoke newcomers.

Ellis Island behind Bally's; it has karaoke every night. The first time I went there it was a bit seedier, pretty small, smoky and was mostly country music. When I recently went again in July 99, I noticed the place has added table games and expanded into ALMOST a real casino so it's not so seedy anymore. You can also get a videotape of yourself singing, as well as an audiotape, for a price. The people were very nice.

Gold Coast off the strip, but you can take a free shuttle from the Barbary Coast. Karaoke every night with a group of regulars. I liked it but didn't like waiting an hour and a half to sing.
Just for Feet This is a shoe store in the Forum (Caesar's Palace) and believe it or not, they have karaoke right in the middle of the store - no stage or anything, and you can't choose a song, you just take whatever song comes up next! In March 1999, I was brave enough to try it and found it was great fun....but I lucked out and got a song I knew. It definitely takes guts or large amounts of alcohol to sing a song you don't know in the middle of a shoe store.

Karaoke Room 3 A new place right across from the UNLV campus at the Running Rebel Plaza. They have a SUPER song collection and you can record yourself singing. They have another one in Honolulu, too. Tell your friends about this place!!! Open noon to 3 am every day.

Karaoke is a kiosk in the arcade part of The Luxor. You pay $20 and pick a song, and you go in their booth and record yourself singing, with karaoke and a neat background behind you that they put on video. You get to choose from backgrounds with different themes. The sound quality isn't fantastic but it's still cool. They put you on the BIG, and I mean BIG screen in the Luxor so everyone can see and hear you!

SportsWorld Casino across from the Frontier on the Strip. We first happened by this new little casino in July '98. There was hardly anyone there though they seemed to have a nice karaoke setup. The best song selection I've ever seen in a bar!!! And I was happy that I got to sing right away. (The $1 blackjack was great, too!) Today, I can't say enough about this place (especially since we seem to win there) and now we go every time we're in town! Only open on Wednesdays.
