DANCING IN THE STREET DURING SANDCASTLE WEEKEND

People were literally singing and dancing in the street with Wally's World Karaoke on Sunday, July 27, 2003, the last day of the U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition.

Wally Pierce, owner of Wally's World Karaoke, donated time and entertainment at the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post, located at the corner of Palm Avenue and Seacoast Drive, a main street entrance into the Imperial Beach Sandcastle Event.

As hundreds of people walked to and from Sandcastles, everyone experienced a taste of Karaoke in the Street. People were either reminiscing to some of their favorite songs or were dancing to favorite line dances like the Electric Slide, Cha Cha, and the Swing. Even the long lines of cars the people who had stopped for traffic didn't seem to mind having to wait.
There were many curious onlookers who stopped and blocked some of the foot and vehicle traffic. Then there were those, who while trying to pass by, just decided to jump in while people were line dancing.

Wally had over 9,000 songs to select from and there were many singers of all ages as young as 5 years old to some as old as, well their ages weren't really disclosed. There were singers from out of state, singers who have sang karaoke in some way, either at a club or party, and then some first time singers who sounded great. Wally reminded them to remember him when they get discovered.
