Showcase Spotlight on Carolyn Taylor

By Nicole

Carolyn Taylor.  What a treasure she is. To think that she never sang until she discovered Karaoke as a hobby. And the other night she gave us a show of a lifetime.

Her selections were very well prepared. She opened up her show with a song from Barbara Streisand, "People" which showed a very wide range of her vocal abilities. Many others that showed more and more surprises followed that song. She can hit and hold those notes like I haven't heard in a long time.

She even sang in Italian, Manbo Italiano! May I say she'd got rhythm too? Woo hoo! Shake that microphone!

Carolyn can also really talk; she is a pleasure to watch and listen to. She is actually quite funny and she jokes about her accent. I just love her as you all do.

David S., her manager was there also. He informed us that Carolyn sang at the Qualcomm stadium a little while ago for channel 10. She also performed at the Catamaran with B!G DADDY ORCHESTRA and will again very soon. Carolyn is also booked at several venues right here in San Diego.

We had the pleasure of listening to her and Dave Sherry do a couple of duets: “Someone Like You” and "I Hate You Then I Love You”.  Their voices blended so well together. There was a lot of spirit and feelings in those songs.

A while back, Ray McCarley had mentioned to Carolyn that he wished that she would do a showcase for his birthday. Well, Ray didn't know what was awaiting him. In the middle of her showcase Carolyn called him up to the stage. Then sat him on a stool, wrapped a boa around her neck and started to sing, “Hey Big Spender.” Ray was shaking his head from side to side and blushing! We all enjoy that part of her show; she has such a great sense of humor.

One of the best parts of her show is to see the stage presence that Carolyn possesses. You can't help but being mesmerized by just watching and listening to her.  Thank you Carolyn from all of you friends, you are a true entertainer!
