Showcase Spotlight on Bill Davis

By Mike Hynds

The person being showcased was Bill Davis and he did a wonderful job! He started the showcase at 8:30 and was late because of car problems, but the audience was still anticipating his arrival. It was an anticipated show that was a “can't miss” event!

Bill started the show with the theme "Lost In The Fifties Tonight”! The second song that Bill sang was a tune from Paul Anka called "You are My Destiny" which was dedicated to his lovely wife Sue of ten years. He followed that with Conway Twitty's "It’s Only Make Believe".

Bill continued with the showcase by singing the well-known classic "Delilah" made famous by Tom Jones. The crowd was singing along with him. The next song Bill performed was the Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody".

Another favorite song Bill performed was an Elvis tune called "Can't Help Falling In Love", which was a tribute to Elvis's birthday. While singing the song, Bill held his wife’s hand.

After singing the slow songs, Bill picked up the tempo by singing Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock & Roll". That song got the whole crowd clapping, singing along, and jamming. After the conclusion of the song, Bill invited his wife, Sue, to sing a duet with him called  "Don't Cry Joni.”

His last song of the evening was another one of the oldies but goodies "Great Balls Of Fire" by Jerry Lewis. The crowd again was clapping, singing along, and jamming. Bill also was dancing around while singing the song.

As his showcase ended the audience wanting an encore of his performance. Bill did just that. He sang "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow". The crowd again was singing along and clapping. His showcase ended with a bang! If you were unable to see Bill Davis's showcase, you missed out on great talent and a great show! Well done, Bill! Great show!
