O!GEE!! Karaoke-A-Thon Huge Success!!

O!GEE!! Karaoke hosted their 7th Annual Karaoke-A-Thon for M.D.A on Labor Day, September 2nd at Fuddrucker's in Chula Vista from 11:00 A.M. to 8 P.M. This year with their help of sponsors, and the community, this local fundraiser surpassed their goal. With donations to sing and raffles, their original goal of $1000.00 was far succeed.

Joanne, manager of O!GEE!! Karaoke states, " We believed in the cause, the community and our sponsors.  We were hoping to make our goal of $1000.00, which we felt might be attainable. It was with great pride and a lot of hard work from all of us involved obtaining a final tally of $1710.00. We had no idea that we would far succeed our original goal. We would like to thank all of our patrons and sponsors, we had a lot of fun and urge those of you to join us next year, and so we can surpass our total of this year. "

During their Karaoke-A-Thon, came a short visit from Jimmy Vee, of Dion and the Belmonts, who entertained the crowd and requested donation for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Also in attendance were Brittany Daniels (self-proclaimed as O!GEE!! Karaoke's Poster child) and her mom, Michelle Scudella. Brittany, who has Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, was diagnosed at 6 months of age. Now 12 years old, and with the aid of a loaner wheelchair (her own wheelchair breaking down a few days before the event) spent much of the day helping raise funds.

"She was so willing to do what she could do.  She enjoyed singing her songs and telling people about Muscular Dystrophy. She is a beautiful energetic child. I wish everyone could meet her.  She started at 10: 00 A.M. and lasted until 3:00 P.M. I believe she did better then I did," states Joanne.

Joanne, suffering herself with Multiple Sclerosis, relentlessly went through the day raffling tickets, getting people to sing and donating what they could.

"It was a total team effort. We had friends and family helping us so we could achieve our goal. Without the aid of all involved, we could never have surpassed our goal," added Joanne.

O!GEE!! Karaoke, featuring Kenny O!GEE!!, Lady O!GEE!!, The Flying "J", Momma O!GEE!!, and Jason "T", can be enjoyed at Dock's Cocktail lounge, Silver Dollar, Mr. D's, Lion's Den in Chula Vista and Molly Malone's in Ramona, as well as Private parties.
