Showcase Spotlight on Jim CarrollBy Nicole Jim Carroll Showcase - how special that was!
Jim started the show with a song with Vina "That's the way love goes"
such a beautiful blend of voices. You could tell right away that this was going
to be a fine showcase! Next Jim called up Paul R.; both guys were looking and
sounding really good.
The next song was performed by one of Jim's close friends, Buck, "All I
have to do is Dream." Such beautiful harmony all around. I thought this next performance real clever. Jim chose the song, "A Man of Constant Sorrow", then Alyssa and Mike walked in wearing suspenders and each one of them wearing a big mustache; yes even Alyssa! That sure was a crowd pleaser. They were singing and dancing to the rhythm of the music. It was an excellent rendition of that song. The next performance was with Heidi, "Can't Help Falling in Love" or as Jim calls it "This is our song!" I agree, nobody does it better! It is so soothing to the ears.
Jim noticed Raven in the audience, who had been sick for a while, and
spontaneously invited him to do a duet. What a genuine wonderful person Jim is.
Surprise! Jim snuck in a song to sing with me as well. I had no idea and
that's a scary feeling. But there it was – a song from Connie Francis "Don't
break the Heart that loves you." I love his rendition of it. It's perfect
for his voice. I was honored to sing it with him. Last, but not least on his list, was a song that Jim recalled singing in his youth, "Whispering Hope." He first sang this song awhile back and La Von just loved it. For his showcase, she mentioned to him that she knows that song and would love to harmonize with him sometime. Sure enough they sang it together at his showcase. We all enjoyed it so much! When it was all over, Jim thank everyone and as he was walking away the audience said. "Jim, we want an encore. Encore!" So he humbly looked around and the audience suggested that he sing " For the Good Times", a favorite of his wife Linda. For his encore, Jim sang his first and only solo of the evening. Thank you Jim from all of us, you are a very generous person to share your spotlight with so many of your friends that we all enjoyed! |
